An eight-month montage follows Kim’s growing success at Schweikart & Cokely and Jimmy’s expanding prepaid-phone business. Their routines increasingly diverge, though Jimmy still imagines sharing a future legal office with her. At a firm reception, he notices her impressive workspace and turns a conversation about the company retreat into an embarrassing spectacle. His extravagant suggestions unsettle Rich and Kim, exposing the strain beneath their continuing relationship and his plans for returning to law.
Hector’s specialist reports improved cognition and limited hand movement. Gus realizes Hector deliberately knocked over a glass to watch a nurse bend down. He ends specialist treatment, leaving Hector mentally aware but physically dependent. Underground construction proceeds slowly, and Kai and Casper clash. Mike considers removing Kai, while Werner argues that the isolated crew needs a break rather than another disciplinary response.
During Jimmy’s street sales, an off-duty officer questions his choice of customers. Huell, wearing headphones, mistakes their argument for a threat and strikes the officer with his shopping bag. Kim agrees to defend Huell but rejects ruining the officer’s reputation. The prosecutor refuses a favourable deal, and Jimmy gives Kim little confidence that Huell will remain in town. Kim buys office supplies and calls Jimmy, telling him to halt his own efforts because she has another plan.
