Colonel Dubaku demands that President Taylor withdraw American forces from Sangala or face attacks on national infrastructure. Tony Almeida is brought to FBI headquarters as the immediate lead to the stolen device. Renee warns Larry Moss that someone inside the Bureau helped the sniper escape. Larry restricts access to Tony, while Jack persuades him to allow a private interrogation. Tony provokes Jack by mentioning Teri's death, then whispers the old CTU code phrase 'deep sky' during their struggle. Jack recognizes the signal and contacts Bill Buchanan. Bill and Chloe explain that Tony is working with them outside government channels to expose Dubaku's support network.
Jack must conceal their operation from the FBI while deciding whether to trust his former colleagues. Elsewhere, Samantha calls Henry and admits Roger was murdered, asking him to meet her. Jack knocks Renee unconscious and takes her access card so he can reach Tony's holding room. Chloe guides their escape remotely, but Janis detects the intrusion and triggers a lockdown. Jack and Tony avoid security teams and reach the parking structure under fire. Jack drives a car through its outer barrier, dropping onto a vehicle below to create their escape route. Bill collects both men in his van, and they leave before the FBI can surround them.
