General Juma's soldiers penetrate the White House and open fire on its occupants. Bill releases Jack from custody to help defend President Taylor as the attackers advance through the corridors. Jack gets Taylor into a secure room, while Bill and other survivors become hostages. Aaron Pierce protects Olivia elsewhere in the building. Outside, the Secret Service withdraws after Juma claims he has the President without producing proof. Jack watches Juma's men attempt to open the secure room with information supplied from outside. He disables its circuitry, preventing their equipment from releasing the locks and keeping Taylor beyond the attackers' reach for the moment.
Juma contacts Jonas Hodges, who has helped the assault in exchange for a shipment. Hodges checks the manifest and identifies Olivia as another way to reach Taylor. Juma orders his men to find her. Larry and Renee urge the Vice President to approve a rescue, but he refuses without firmer information about Taylor's safety. Aaron and Olivia try to signal the teams outside from a residence window. Aaron is wounded and explains how Olivia can use a flashlight to send the signal, but soldiers catch them before she succeeds. Juma threatens to mutilate Olivia unless Taylor comes out. Taylor orders Jack to open the door and surrenders, asking Juma to release the others.
