Jack catches up with Tony and persuades him to cooperate in an exchange that might recover Michelle and capture Saunders. Tony fears that any visible CTU involvement will get his wife killed. At Jack's direction, he rejects Saunders's first proposed meeting place. Saunders eventually agrees to the Sixth Street Bridge, giving Chase time to place teams around the site without revealing them to the arriving kidnappers.
Keeler confronts Palmer over his false alibi for Sherry and demands that he leave office after the crisis. Palmer calls Sherry, who refuses to back down over the prescription bottle. Wayne proposes recovering the evidence and recruits Foxton to help. Meanwhile, Michelle frightens a guard by making herself appear infected, overpowers him and escapes. She reaches CTU by telephone, but Jack asks her to allow herself to be caught so the exchange can proceed.
Michelle agrees despite Tony's anger. At the bridge, she and Jane walk past one another toward opposite sides. After Michelle reaches Tony, Jane turns back rather than continue to her father's men. Saunders exposes himself trying to get her back, and Jack orders the hidden teams to move. Saunders runs toward an escape helicopter while gunfire holds Jack back. Military aircraft destroy the helicopter before Saunders can board. Jack takes him into custody, with Michelle and Jane safe, but Saunders still refuses to identify the remaining virus locations.
