Nioh 3 Stats and Respec
On this page
Spend for the character on screen
At a shrine, use Amrita in Level Up to raise individual stats. Start with the requirements for the weapon and armour you are wearing, then add the survival and Ki support that fixes the problem you are actually having. A heavier setup needs enough room to move and attack comfortably; a weapon you enjoy needs the attributes that support it. Do not spread points across every damage path before you have a reason to use them.
The status screen is more useful than a universal build list. Compare the weapon’s scaling and your equipment weight after one change. If an attribute or armour piece makes the current setup harder to use, undo the idea while the cost of changing direction is low.
When reset becomes available
Stat reset unlocks after the prologue: defeat Yamagata Masakage and reach the Warring States map. Pray at a shrine, choose Level Up, then use the reset prompt on that screen before reallocating the returned points. Resets are free and unlimited after this gate, with no Book of Reincarnation required.
Skills reset separately. Open the Main Menu, choose Acquire Martial Arts/Ninjutsu, enter a node where points were spent, and use the reset prompt. Samurai and Ninja trees are separate, so reset the tree that matches the skills you are changing. Samurai Points and Ninja Points come from their respective Locks; moving one set does not automatically alter the other.
Preserve a playable reset plan
Before confirming a reset, write down four things: the weapon requirements, armour you intend to wear, one ranged or defensive answer, and the style you want to use first. Rebuild in that order. Then revisit the equipment screen and use the training space or a familiar enemy before spending more points.
Skill capacity is also separate for common, Samurai, and Ninja skills. A learned skill may need to be activated in Skill Management or assigned through Customize Martial Arts/Ninjutsu before it changes the fight. A reset is useful when it clears a mismatch; it is not a reason to equip every new option at once.
For the equipment side of the decision, read Weapons and Weight. If the goal is to change your combat approach rather than chase numbers, start with Samurai and Ninja Styles and use a reset only after you know which response you want in a boss exchange.
