Make Your Card Evolution Activate in Battle
On this page
An unlocked Evolution needs the right deck slot and enough normal plays before it appears. In Clash Royale on mobile, check both before expecting the evolved form in an own-deck battle.
Put the card in a supported slot
Open the Evolution tab on the card’s page and read what its changed ability does. Keep the other cards familiar while you learn when that effect helps.
Place your unlocked Evolution in an available Evolution Slot or Wild Slot. A regular slot keeps it in its normal form. Look for the charged appearance in the deck you intend to play before entering battle. Evolution setup
Watch the diamonds, then choose the next play
Play the base card until its diamonds turn purple. Its next deployment is evolved; the required number of base plays depends on the card. The Evolution’s ability works automatically, and the cycle restarts after that evolved deployment. Evolution in battle
If the first troop looks normal, check the progress indicator. Once the Evolution is ready, choose a moment when its changed effect can help. Don’t rush through cards and leave your tower exposed just to reach the evolved play.
Practise the whole sequence
Set up a standard Friendly Battle with a partner. Watch the base deployments, the purple signal, the evolved play and the start of the next cycle. If you notice readiness but spend the card before an approaching attack, try holding it for that attack in the rematch.
Find the missing step
If the Evolution never appears, confirm that its evolved form is unlocked, inspect its slot, then check whether you played enough base copies. Some Event Deck modes restrict Evolutions, so repeated cycling cannot solve a mode restriction. Mode availability
Your Tower Troop is a separate deck choice. Use the Tower Troop setup guide if that is what you meant to change.
