The Sinner

The Sinner is a paranormal romance by the American writer J. R. Ward, published in 2020. It belongs to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and it brings together a vampire mercenary and a woman who has no idea what her own background is.

Syn has a second occupation that the Brotherhood knows nothing about, and the job he is on when the book opens turns out to connect to more than one of the series' long-running conflicts. He crosses paths both with the vampire race's enemies and with Jo Early, who is on the edge of a change that will kill her if it is not handled properly.

Jo's situation gives her no time and no options, and the person who steps in to help is a stranger whose motives she does not trust and whose company she does not dislike. Meanwhile Butch O'Neal, who was named as the Dhestroyer by a prophecy about the end of the Omega, finds that the war with the Lessening Society is reaching a decision and that Syn may be useful to him, provided he can be relied on.
