The Last Battle
The last days of Narnia arrive, and all hope appears lost as lies and treachery threaten to destroy everything.
About
The Last Battle is a portal fantasy novel by the British author C. S. Lewis, published by The Bodley Head in 1956. It was the seventh and final novel in The Chronicles of Narnia, published between 1950 and 1956.
The action is set almost entirely within Narnia, and the English children who take part arrive only in the middle of the narrative, which makes this the most self-contained of the books in terms of its cast. It takes place some two hundred Narnian years after The Silver Chair and roughly two thousand five hundred Narnian years, or forty-nine Earth years, after the creation described in The Magician's Nephew.
The plot is a crisis of authority. A false Aslan is set up in the north-western borderlands, and the resulting conflict between true and false Narnians merges with a war between Narnia and Calormen, whose people worship Tash. The book concludes with the end of the world that the series had begun with its creation, which is why it is read as a deliberate closing of the whole sequence rather than as one more adventure.
