Snakehead
Alex Rider is fourteen and has just come back from space, and when he crash lands off the coast of Australia the Australian Secret Service recruits him to infiltrate one of the criminal gangs operating across South East Asia.
About
Snakehead is a novel by the British writer Anthony Horowitz, published in 2007. It is the seventh book of the Alex Rider series.
Alex Rider is a teenager who has been used by British intelligence since the first book, when his uncle's death brought him into the service, and he is repeatedly placed in situations no adult would risk a child in. This novel follows the previous one in the series, which ended with him in orbit aboard a space station, and picks up when he crashes into the sea off the coast of Australia and is recruited by the Australian authorities. The assignment takes him into the smuggling networks that move people and goods through South East Asia, and towards Scorpia, the organisation that has been behind several of the people he has lost. Horowitz wrote the series for older children and teenagers and built each book around a set of action sequences with a piece of technology or a location at the centre.
The series runs to more than a dozen books and was adapted for television, and the later novels return to the questions about the agency that first put Alex in the field.
