Eagle Strike
Alex Rider is on holiday in the south of France when a bomb destroys the house he is staying in, and the trail leads to Sir Damian Cray, a pop star and peace campaigner who is preparing a global charity concert.
About
Eagle Strike is an adventure novel by Anthony Horowitz, published in 2003 and the fourth book in his Alex Rider series. Its protagonist is a fourteen-year-old who has been recruited by the British security services, and the novels put him into operations that would normally belong to an adult.
The book begins with an attack in the south of France that kills the family Alex has been staying with. The investigation takes him to Damian Cray, a philanthropist, peace activist and one of the most famous pop singers in the world, who is preparing a global charity concert. Cray's plan is not charitable at all, and Alex has to work out what it is before the event happens, with the book keeping its action inside the machinery of the concert.
Horowitz writes the series as fast thrillers with a young protagonist at the centre and a regular cast of handlers and enemies, and this volume is one of the darker entries. It was followed by many further Alex Rider books.
