Slightly Scandalous
Lady Freyja Bedwyn has been raised with four unruly brothers and has no patience for the conventions that are supposed to govern a woman of her rank.
About
Slightly Scandalous is a historical romance by the English-Canadian writer Mary Balogh, published in 2003 and part of her Bedwyn saga.
Lady Freyja Bedwyn grew up with four brothers who were allowed to do as they liked, and she has no intention of behaving better than they did, which makes her an awkward fit for a society that expects women to be decorative and biddable. In Bath a stranger comes into her room through the wrong door and asks her to conceal him, and the man is Joshua Moore, the Marquess of Hallmere, whose reputation is at least as bad as hers. The two of them recognise each other immediately as a useful sort of ally, and the arrangement they make puts them in the middle of a family dispute that neither of them expected. Balogh's Bedwyn books follow the same family, and this one belongs to the sister.
The series gives each of the six siblings a book of their own, and Freyja's is the one that carries the family's temper into a town that is not used to it.
