Prince Lestat
The vampire world is in crisis.
About
Prince Lestat is a novel by the American writer Anne Rice, published on 28 October 2014. It is the eleventh book in The Vampire Chronicles.
The novel opens with the vampire world in crisis, as its numbers grow beyond control and burnings begin in cities across the world. Older vampires, woken from their long sleep in the earth, are carrying out the orders of a Voice that tells them to destroy the mavericks among their kind, and the story ranges from present-day New York and the west coast of America to ancient Egypt, fourth-century Carthage, fourteenth-century Rome and Renaissance Venice. Its cast includes Louis de Pointe du Lac, the eternally young Armand, the twins Mekare and Maharet, Pandora and Flavius, David Talbot of the Talamasca, and Marius. Rice had said that the earlier novel Blood Canticle was meant to conclude the series, and then announced in 2014 that she was writing a novel that would act as a sequel to the first five books and begin a new sequence, along with a follow-up that was eventually titled Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis.
Rice said that the book could be read as a sequel to The Queen of the Damned, because so many characters from that novel reappear in it.
