My Friends Call Me Monster
Michael Monroe is learning a few new lessons this week.
About
My Friends Call Me Monster is a Goosebumps HorrorLand book by R. L. Stine, published in 2009 and set in a school where one member of staff has interests that are not on the curriculum.
Michael Monroe starts the week with three pieces of advice he would be wise to follow. The first is never to trust a teacher who believes in monsters. The second is not to consider entering that teacher's house. The third is to keep well away from the enormous egg in her attic, particularly if it is showing signs of hatching. Michael, being the kind of boy these stories are written about, does not follow the advice, and what he finds in the house turns an ordinary school term into something considerably worse. The book also continues the wider HorrorLand sequence, in which a group of children are trapped inside a theme park and the adults around them are not what they claim to be.
Stine's books are short, funny and structurally simple, and this one uses the familiar unease of a strange teacher as the starting point for its monster story.
