Dark Prince
Raven Whitney is a telepathic hunter of serial killers, and the work has left her unable to be close to anybody and has worn out her body.
About
Dark Prince is a romance novel by the American writer Christine Feehan, published in 1999 and the first book of her Dark series.
The Carpathians in the novel are long-lived, need blood, can change shape, and lose the capacity to feel as the centuries pass; the only thing that stops a Carpathian becoming the creature he hunts is a woman whose mind can reach his, which is why the prince of the race is both powerful and desperate. Raven's telepathy has been a professional tool and a burden, and the novel makes her distance from other people the thing that fits her for a relationship no ordinary human could survive. Feehan built the book as a romance with a horror story attached, and the opposition comes from outside the pair: an old enemy of the Carpathians, a threat to the woman, and the fact that a human joining this world is not a simple matter. The series became one of the longest-running in paranormal romance, and Dark Desire followed it.
