Chosen

Chosen is a novel for young readers by the American writers P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast, the third book in the House of Night series.

Zoey Redbird is a fledgling vampire at a school in Tulsa where pupils either complete their transformation or die in the attempt. As a newly marked leader among the students she has a circle to run, a boyfriend she is lying to, and a growing suspicion about the woman in charge. Neferet has been using her authority to revive fledglings who did not survive, and what comes back does not have much of the person in it; Zoey's friend Stevie Rae is one of them, and she is losing what is left of her humanity. Zoey decides to save her, without telling anybody who might stop her. The book mixes school life, boyfriend problems and a plot about adults trafficking in their own students, and the tone stays inside Zoey's head, which is what makes the betrayals land.

The series is set in a version of the United States where vampirism is public, and the school's rules matter as much as the supernatural ones.
