After years of torture at the hands of a vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, the leader of the Lykae clan, finds that the mate he has waited millennia for is part vampire.

About

A Hunger Like No Other is a paranormal romance by the American writer Kresley Cole, published in 2006. It is the first book in her Immortals After Dark series, and it begins with a werewolf who has been imprisoned for centuries.

Lachlain MacRieve is the leader of the Lykae clan, and he has endured years of torture from a vampire horde. When he finally finds the woman destiny has set aside for him, she turns out to be a vampire as well, or partly one, which is the last thing he wanted. He has spent his imprisonment dreaming of her, and the reality of the woman he has been promised does not match the dream.

Emmaline Troy is the other half of the problem. She is a sheltered half-Valkyrie and half-vampire, and she has only just left home to look into the truth about her deceased parents when a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and carries her back to his ancestral castle in Scotland. The novel follows how her fear of the Lykae gives way as he sets about winning her.
