Keep Room for a Block You Can Already See
On this page
Before placing a block in the first gap it fits, check whether that move leaves room for another block already on offer. Block Blast! rewards keeping useful space open and planning the next placement. Board planning
Compare the shape of the remaining space
The example below is a six-cell pocket: three columns wide and two rows tall. Suppose you have a vertical two-cell block and a 2×2 square to place, and neither candidate placement clears a line.
- Put the vertical block along the pocket’s left edge: the four cells on its right still form a 2×2 space.
- Put it through the middle: four cells remain, but they are split into two narrow strips. The square cannot use that pocket.
Choose the edge placement, drag the vertical block there, then place the square in the preserved space. The useful check is whether the next shape fits, not just how many cells remain empty.
When no suitable pocket is open
Look for a line you can clear with another offered block, then inspect the spaces that clear before placing the larger shape. Recheck after each move; a line clear changes the layout. Make space for later moves
When there is room to choose, also check whether an offered shape can finish two rows together.
