Wo Long: Battle Flags, Marking Flags and Fortitude

On this page

Fortitude is the floor under your rank

Every battlefield has a Morale Rank that rises as you defeat enemies, and a Fortitude floor set by the flags you raise. Battle Flags are checkpoints with preparation menus; Marking Flags reward exploration. Both types raise Fortitude. After defeat, your Morale Rank returns to at least that floor.

The practical rule is simple: check the battlefield’s flag count before a boss. Missing flags often mean there is still a route, rooftop or guarded side area worth exploring.

What each flag type gives you

You find Effect Where they hide
Battle Flag Raises Fortitude and provides a checkpoint menu Main routes and defended positions
Marking Flag Raises Fortitude Side paths and concealed positions
Enemy camps Morale Rank while you clear them Anywhere; worth the detour early

Exploring also finds equipment and upgrade materials. A missed path can therefore improve both your battlefield Morale position and your loadout.

Morale swings both ways

Enemies have ranks too. Team NINJA’s strategy guide notes that defeating enemies near or above your rank builds Morale, while higher-ranked enemies deal more damage and can yield better rewards.

Morale and Spirit are separate systems: taking Spirit damage does not itself lower Morale Rank. Morale, Spirit and Deflection explains how they interact during combat.
