Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Getting Started

Start with guard, then learn deflection
Guarding stops ordinary attacks while it consumes Spirit. Deflection is the timed answer: a successful deflect restores your Spirit and damages the enemy’s Spirit. Use guard while learning a string, then deflect the hits you can read.
Watch the attack rather than the health bar and deflect near impact. A red glow marks a Critical Blow: ordinary guard will not stop it, but it can be deflected. You can keep guard held while learning the timing and press deflect from that guarded state.
Raise your Morale Rank before the boss
Every battlefield has Morale Rank for you and the enemies. Your rank rises as you defeat enemies. Battle Flags and Marking Flags raise Fortitude, the minimum Morale Rank you return with after defeat. Finding flags therefore makes retries more manageable.
| What you find | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Battle Flag | Raises Fortitude and acts as a resupply point |
| Marking Flag | Smaller Fortitude increase, usually off the main path |
| Enemy camps | Morale rank from kills, plus materials |
| Battle Flag menu | Level with Genuine Qi and prepare your build |
If a boss has a large Morale advantage, search unfinished paths for flags before retrying.
Pick a phase and a Divine Beast to match
Wizardry Spells are grouped by the Five Phases. Virtue requirements, Morale Rank and Spirit all affect how comfortably they fit into a build. Divine Beasts provide a summon or resonance effect after their gauge is filled.
Keep equipment weight within a useful agility tier and level with a purpose rather than spreading every point evenly. Morale, Spirit and Deflection explains the combat loop in more detail.
