Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
Season 2 returns to Animal Junction with the Kratt brothers and Zoboomafoo. Amy takes over the Animal Helpers segment this season. “Green Creatures” starts with Zoboo discovering that plants and trees are living parts of the animal world; the brothers show how soil, sunlight and water help plants grow, and travel with Popcorn the binturong to India. “Brain Power” shifts to Braniac the chimpanzee, who helps the group build an Invisibility Machine, before elephants and crows broaden the discussion of animal intelligence.
The season also makes care and companionship part of the lesson. In “Bovine,” a cow and calf wander into Animal Junction, and Zoboo works out how to bring their herd to them. “Flying Buddies” begins with a flying fox fruit bat; Zoboo wants to fly too, so the Kratt brothers make him wings, and their trip to India brings vultures into the conversation. Later, “Buddies” has Zoboo looking for a dependable friend among sea life and other visiting animals before he settles on Shark the chameleon. “Can You Feel It?” gives him a social problem: Brainiac dislikes swimming and Lost and Found the dog dislikes climbing, so he finds a game they can enjoy together.
Other episodes turn familiar worries into animal-centered investigations. During a thunderstorm in “Fearfest,” Zoboo mistakes grizzly bear cubs for frightening creatures, and the brothers help him understand what he is seeing. In “Super Claw,” special climbing claws fail to make him climb like kinkajous, leading him to recognize that his own nails suit a lemur. “Grow, Zoboo Grow” pairs a human baby with a baby red kangaroo as the brothers discuss what young animals need to grow. In “Don’t Fence Me In,” Zoboo invites a wolverine to stay, then learns that his friend needs more room than Animal Junction can offer.
