Season 1

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

At Animal Junction, Chris and Martin Kratt turn each visiting creature into a question to investigate with Zoboomafoo. The early episodes move from senses and animal homes to a celebration of lemurs: in “Happy Lemur Day,” two ring-tailed lemurs visit, and the brothers throw a party so more people can learn what a lemur is. Jackie and the Animal Helpers add practical care alongside the animal encounters; she helps two turtles headed toward a busy highway, while other stories show children how to give wildlife room and safe help.

The season keeps changing its activity with the animal. “Swimming” brings river otters to the Junction and sends the gang into MudPuppy Pond with turtles, penguins and capybaras; Jackie swims there with her dog Goldie. In “Snow Day,” a cold Japanese snow monkey arrives during a storm, and Jackie and the others shovel paths for animals struggling through the snow. “Climbing” compares the sticky feet of a tree frog and the kinkajou’s grasping tail before coatis beat the Kratts in a climbing contest. These visits make movement, shelter and senses visible through play rather than a continuing plot.

Later stories keep the focus on looking after real animals. “Puppies” leaves Chris, Martin and Zoboo caring for eight puppies; when one wanders away, they help its mother find it, while Jackie’s helpers return a lost calf to its mother. “Animal Daycare” fills the Junction with kittens and other young animals, and Jackie helps a fallen baby bird by placing it in a basket nest in the tree for its mother to find. Across the season, songs, creature visits and Zoboo’s playful detours connect these specific problems with observation and considerate care.
