William arrives at Westworld with Logan, who already knows the park and urges him to enjoy its freedoms. William chooses a white hat and approaches Sweetwater cautiously, resisting opportunities for sex and violence. Logan treats the hosts as disposable entertainment, even stabbing a man who offers them an adventure. Elsewhere, the Man in Black interrupts Lawrence's hanging and forces him to help search for the maze. At Lawrence's home, he murders villagers and Lawrence's wife to demand answers. Lawrence's daughter finally supplies a clue involving a snake, while warning that the maze is not intended for him. He takes Lawrence along anyway.
Dolores passes her father's ominous words to Maeve, whose work at the saloon is interrupted by images of a different life with a young daughter. The staff respond to her poor performance by changing her settings, unaware of what she is beginning to recall. During a repair session, Maeve wakes, threatens the technicians and runs through the facility with her abdomen still open. She sees other hosts being handled as bodies before Felix and Sylvester subdue her. Ford rejects Lee Sizemore's proposed storyline in favor of his own plans. Back at the ranch, Dolores follows an inner prompt into the darkness and digs a pistol out of the ground.
