Sarah describes the man from her vision while Andy draws his face. When Cooper sees the sketch, he recognises BOB from his dream. Sarah also recalls someone digging up Laura's necklace, troubling Donna because she knows exactly where it was hidden. Jacoby remains evasive about his patient, although he tells Cooper about a man with a red Corvette. The search for the one-armed man finally produces Phillip Gerard, a travelling shoe salesman who denies knowing the figure in the drawing. His friend Bob Lydecker is a veterinarian, giving the investigators a practical lead to follow beyond the resemblance to Cooper's dream.
At the animal clinic, Cooper considers whether one of the birds treated there made the marks on Laura's body. The records connect a myna bird to Jacques Renault. A search of Jacques's apartment then uncovers Leo's bloodstained shirt, which Bobby has just planted there. Shelly had given Bobby the shirt in the hope of escaping her husband's violence. Ben meets Leo to arrange the destruction of the sawmill, while Josie secretly photographs Ben and Catherine together. Norma supports Hank's parole application despite her relationship with Ed and her anxiety about his return. Audrey decides to investigate the perfume counter, and James meets Maddy. The day ends with news of Hank's release and an unsettling call to Josie.
