Ray confronts Frank over the wrong man he killed for assaulting Gena. Their conversation takes place with guns beneath the table, but Frank insists he believed the information and agrees to trace its source. Ray visits Gena's identified attacker and later loses his sobriety after an uncomfortable supervised meeting with Chad. He offers to withdraw from the custody fight if Gena will keep the uncertainty about Chad's parentage from the boy.
Paul traces the blue diamonds to a jewellery-store robbery during the 1992 Los Angeles riots, when two children were orphaned. Frank follows his own lead to Irina, who says a man hired her to pawn Caspere's possessions. Before she can provide a full account, the cartel kills her. Frank's agreement to let drugs pass through his clubs has secured contact with the gang without securing the witness he needed.
Ani enters the secluded party using Athena's invitation, while Ray and Paul wait outside. Forced to take drugs, she experiences disturbing childhood memories and struggles to keep control. She finds Vera in the bathroom and decides to get her out. Paul overhears a railway discussion and steals documents from an office. Ani fights past security, killing a guard during the escape, and reaches the others. Ray drives them away under fire with Vera and the papers, leaving the team with a witness and evidence of a larger deal, but also an exposed undercover operation.
