Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
Bill emerges from the blood pool as something beyond the vampire he was, and his new powers make both Sookie and Eric wary. As he tries to understand what Lilith has made him, Louisiana governor Truman Burrell declares war on vampires and builds a guarded camp where they are tested, tortured and forced to drink synthetic blood laced with Hepatitis V. Sookie and Jason learn that the stranger Ben Flynn is Warlow, the ancient vampire tied to their parents’ deaths, while their great-grandfather Niall tries to protect them from his reach.
The camp’s violence draws Eric, Pam, Nora, Jessica, Tara and Jason into overlapping rescue attempts, while Sarah Newlin helps Burrell’s anti-vampire campaign and Jason is caught in her trap. Bill uses Warlow’s faerie blood to move by day and to save vampires from the camp, but his alliance with Warlow cannot keep Sookie safe. Terry’s guilt over killing Patrick drives him to ask his former Marine friend Justin to shoot him without warning; after Holly arranges for a vampire to erase his traumatic memories, Justin carries out the request, and Arlene loses her husband. The town gathers for Terry’s funeral as the danger keeps spreading.
Sookie and Warlow’s engagement turns into a threat when he tries to force her into becoming his vampire bride. Bill, Jason and Violet enter the faerie plane with Adilyn’s help to rescue her; after Warlow pursues them back to Bon Temps, Niall holds him still and Jason stakes him. The faerie blood that let vampires walk in daylight then wears off. Eric, still in Sweden and exposed to the sun, begins burning; the season leaves his fate unresolved. Six months later, Sookie is dating Alcide, Sam is mayor, and infected vampires approach Bon Temps.
