The students face punishment after the karaoke brawl, and Ju-kyung joins those admitting involvement. With exams approaching, Su-ho offers to study with her, although their quiet meeting becomes crowded when friends arrive. Ju-kyung also grows closer to Su-jin, who explains that stress drives her repeated handwashing. A trip to a baseball game introduces another admirer: player Ryu Hyung-jin asks for Ju-kyung's number and later visits her school. Su-ho's jealousy is obvious to Tae-hoon, who encourages him to admit his feelings. Seo-jun also struggles to dismiss his interest, especially while Ju-kyung helps him choose makeup for Go-woon.
Ju-kyung's improved effort does not satisfy her mother, who throws away her cosmetics after the exam results. She leaves home upset, and Su-ho comforts her over noodles at Prince Comics and gives her a hair clip. The tenderness confuses her when she later sees him embracing Su-jin after another episode of abuse at home. Assuming Su-jin is the person he likes, Ju-kyung withdraws. Shopping with Seo-jun leads to a broken elevator and another struggle between the boys over her attention. Hyung-jin offers a clearer choice, but Ju-kyung tells him she likes someone else. Unaware of her rejection, Su-ho and Seo-jun attend his game hoping to find her. Instead, they confront each other and admit that both like Ju-kyung.
