Su-ho tries to stop Ju-kyung following Seo-jun but loses his nerve and talks about schoolwork. Both boys compete for her attention in class and over lunch, while Ju-kyung tells Seo-jun to stop bothering her. Her attention turns to Go-woon, a talented singer whose classmates bully her about her appearance and pressure her to surrender a solo. Ju-kyung intervenes when they corner Go-woon in a bathroom, then listens to her fears about performing. She studies makeup techniques to help her, and Su-ho encourages the effort. When he says Ju-kyung is pretty without makeup, she begins hoping that he likes her.
Ju-kyung invites Su-ho to a horror film and he accepts, but Seo-jun confronts him about Se-yeon's death. At the festival, Ju-kyung repairs Go-woon's makeup before her successful solo and discovers that she is Seo-jun's sister. Her own excitement ends when Su-ho claims he has only been treating her kindly out of pity. Hurt, she cries inside her pig costume while the boys compete on the basketball court. Se-yeon's song later brings Su-ho's grief to the surface, with flashbacks showing the calls he missed before his friend's death. Ju-kyung recognizes the initials on his jacket and realizes he rescued her on the rooftop. She returns there, finds him crying and embraces him.
