Lim Ju-kyung is bullied at school and mocked at home for her appearance. When she gathers the courage to confess to cafeteria worker Hyun-bin, Park Sae-mi and her friends turn the rejection into another humiliation and record it. Ju-kyung goes to a rooftop in despair, then decides to step away from the edge. Lee Su-ho rushes over and pulls her back, believing she is about to jump. After she loses her glasses, he helps her down the stairs and puts her in a taxi. Her attempt to explain what happened at home gets lost amid her parents' financial troubles.
The family's move gives Ju-kyung a chance to transfer to Saebom High. She studies online makeup tutorials, struggles through early mistakes and arrives with a look that wins immediate attention. Soo-ah and Su-jin welcome her into their circle, a sharp change from the isolation she knew before. Su-ho, who also attends Saebom, remains distant when she accidentally stains his jacket. At home, Ju-young threatens to share a photograph of his sister without makeup unless she gets him a comic. She visits Prince Comics with her face uncovered and reaches for the same volume as Su-ho. Their collision brings her new school life dangerously close to the face she is hiding.
