The Fleshy Part of the Thigh

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Tony recovers in hospital, joining visiting religious men in prayer and talking with fellow patients John Schwinn and the rapper Da Lux. Schwinn describes his belief that apparently separate things are connected, and Tony says he is beginning to feel part of something larger. Bobby makes a different arrangement with Marvin, a member of Da Lux's entourage: he offers to shoot him to manufacture publicity. After receiving less than the agreed fee, Bobby shoots Marvin in the buttocks.

Paulie's dying aunt Dottie reveals that she is his biological mother and that Nucci, who raised him, is really his aunt. Paulie refuses to attend Dottie's funeral and rejects Nucci. Tony urges him to remember the love and care she gave him. Meanwhile, Jason Barone tries to sell his late father's sanitation business without understanding its mob connections. Tony negotiates terms protecting his own interests and assures Jason's mother that her son will be safe.

Tony accuses a paramedic of taking money from his wallet, but declines the cash the man later brings him. Leaving hospital, he holds Janice's hand and says that every day is a gift. Paulie responds very differently to Jason's mother's pleading. He finds Jason beside the river, beats him with a metal pole and demands monthly payments matching Nucci's retirement-home costs. He warns Jason with a gun to keep the arrangement secret from Tony.
