Tony and Carmela remain separated, and a black bear frightens A.J. in the family backyard. Carmela drives it away, then has to contend with Tony's visits and another argument about their son and money. Tony assigns Benny and Little Paulie to watch the property. News of several mobsters leaving prison also reaches the crew, including Feech La Manna and Tony's cousin, Tony Blundetto, whose homecoming Tony plans to celebrate.
Christopher resents paying the restaurant bills for men who outrank him, especially when Paulie deliberately makes the meals more expensive. Tony tells him that he once paid the same way. After an Atlantic City dinner, a waiter follows Christopher outside to complain about his tip. Christopher throws a brick at his head, and Paulie shoots the injured man. They flee with the money, then reconcile the next day and agree to divide the bill.
Tony pursues Melfi after watching The Prince of Tides, sending gifts and trying to turn an appointment into a romantic encounter. She rejects his invitations despite acknowledging her attraction in her own therapy. When Tony presses her for reasons, she identifies aspects of his conduct she could not accept. He responds with anger and leaves. Later, he returns to the family house and replaces Benny on watch, sitting outside with a rifle.
