The Weight

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Johnny Sack's anger over Ralph's joke about Ginny becomes a threat to both families. He brutally attacks a member of Ralph's crew and demands permission to kill Ralph. Carmine refuses because Ralph earns too much money, and Ralph's telephone attempt to apologize makes matters worse. Johnny arranges for Ralph to be murdered in Miami anyway. Carmine privately signals that Tony should remove Johnny to end the disruption. Tony sends Silvio and Christopher to meet outside killers, creating a second murder plan alongside the first. Tony also tries to discover which member of his organization passed the joke to Johnny, who refuses to identify his source.

The killings are averted after Johnny unexpectedly returns home and finds Ginny secretly eating sweets. She admits she has concealed her eating from him, and he assures her that he never demanded she lose weight. Johnny then accepts a settlement and calls off the attempt on Ralph, allowing Tony to cancel the other hit. Away from the dispute, Meadow begins volunteering at a legal aid center, unsettling Tony's expectations for her career. Carmela and Furio dance together at his housewarming party. Tony later brings Carmela flowers and a black dress, trying to be affectionate. As they have sex, the music associated with her dance with Furio continues in Carmela's thoughts.
