The Happy Wanderer

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Davey Scatino asks to join Tony's high-stakes card game despite already owing Richie money. Tony initially discourages him, then allows him to play and borrow. While Tony sleeps, Davey takes further loans from Christopher and loses heavily. Richie arrives, recognises Davey and attacks him, disrupting the game. Tony insists that Davey's new debt to him takes priority, turning Richie's attempt to collect into another dispute over who controls business and receives payment first.

In therapy, Tony describes his anger at people who seem content with ordinary lives. Junior also reveals a family history Tony did not know: his late brother Ercole had an intellectual disability and was placed in an institution. Tony struggles with both disclosures while continuing to demand repayment from Davey. Davey's missed payment brings a beating, and his son's vehicle becomes a substitute for cash as the gambling losses reach the rest of the household.

Tony gives Meadow the sport utility vehicle taken from Davey, but she recognises it as Eric Scatino's car and refuses to accept it. Eric blames his father's punishment for losing the vehicle and becomes angry with Meadow about Tony's involvement. Their disagreement spills into preparations for a school cabaret, where they were supposed to perform together. Eric withdraws from the duet, leaving Meadow to sing alone while their parents sit among the audience.
