Richie Aprile returns from prison after ten years and expects the old rules to protect his interests. Tony tries to establish limits, but Richie treats Beansie's pizzeria as a business that owes him tribute. He beats Beansie when the owner refuses his demands. Richie's claims of a calmer outlook do little to reassure Tony, especially as he renews contact with Junior and begins seeing Janice, bringing his resentments into Tony's family life.
Meadow holds a party at Livia's empty house that becomes a drunken, destructive gathering. Tony retrieves her after the police intervene, and she negotiates a punishment that leaves her parents dissatisfied. Janice initially defends Meadow, then changes her position when she sees the wreckage. Carmela challenges her interference. Meadow later overhears the adults discussing her behaviour and begins scrubbing the damaged floor, a task Tony discovers her doing when he visits the house.
A chance restaurant encounter leaves Melfi embarrassed by her cheerful greeting to Tony, which she later discusses with her own therapist. Tony passes her off as a former girlfriend rather than explaining their sessions. Richie's dispute with Beansie becomes far more serious when he attacks him with his vehicle. Beansie survives with devastating spinal injuries. Tony visits him in hospital, where Richie's refusal to respect a warning has become an immediate and lasting physical consequence.
