Tony takes Meadow to visit colleges in Maine, where she asks directly whether he is in the Mafia. He denies the label but admits that some of his income comes from illegal gambling. Meadow tells him about taking speed to study, although she refuses to identify her supplier. At a petrol station, Tony spots Fabian Petrulio, a former associate who informed on the mob and now uses the name Fred Peters. Christopher helps check his identity, and Tony investigates Petrulio's home and travel agency while keeping his daughter occupied with the college trip.
Petrulio realises he is being followed and finds Tony's motel. He aims a gun at Tony but does not fire while Meadow and other witnesses are nearby. The next morning, Tony leaves Meadow at an interview and strangles Petrulio at his business. Back on the road, Meadow notices his injured hand and dirty shoes but stops questioning his explanation. At home, Carmela spends the evening eating and drinking with Father Phil while A.J. is away. Melfi calls, revealing to Carmela that Tony's therapist is a woman. Carmela confesses her fears about the family's life to Phil, who gives her communion. They nearly kiss, but he becomes sick and spends the night separately. When Tony returns, Carmela tells him Phil stayed over, then confronts him about Jennifer's call.
