Din Djarin and Grogu arrive as a huge creature attacks a Mandalorian initiation ceremony. Din's ship saves the covert, but the Armorer still considers him an apostate for willingly removing his helmet. He proposes returning to Mandalore and bathing in the Living Waters beneath its mines. She accepts that this would redeem him if the waters remain accessible. With Grogu already back at his side, Din sets out to test whether their devastated homeworld can still be explored.
On Nevarro, Greef Karga now presides over a prosperous town as High Magistrate. He offers Din land and a position as marshal, but Din wants to rebuild IG-11 as a trustworthy guide to Mandalore. An attempt to restart the droid restores its old assassination programming and sends it after Grogu. The Anzellan mechanics explain that a replacement memory circuit is needed. Din also helps Karga confront pirates demanding entry to a former saloon that has become a school.
The surviving pirate, Vane, brings more trouble when Din leaves the planet. Din fights through the pursuing starfighters and escapes their commander Gorian Shard rather than surrendering his ship. He then visits Bo-Katan Kryze on Kalevala, where she sits without the forces once assembled to reclaim Mandalore. Her followers abandoned her after she returned without the Darksaber. She dismisses Din's faith in the Living Waters but tells him where the mines lie beneath Sundari. Din remains determined to see the planet for himself.
