The Mandalorian's journey back to the Razor Crest is interrupted by other hunters tracking the child. Defeating them does not solve the problem waiting at his landing place: Jawas have stripped the ship for parts. He pursues their sandcrawler and is knocked off, leaving him unable to fly and without a straightforward way to recover the stolen equipment. Kuiil returns to help, insisting that the ship has been scavenged rather than destroyed and that a bargain may succeed where another attack will fail.
The Jawas want an egg from a mudhorn. The hunter enters its cave and finds himself overmatched, battered by the animal while his weapons and armour offer diminishing protection. As the creature closes in, the child raises a hand and holds it suspended, giving the Mandalorian a chance to kill it. The effort leaves the child asleep, and the hunter cannot explain what he has witnessed. Retrieving the egg allows him to complete the exchange, though the Jawas immediately break it open to eat its contents.
With the parts returned, Kuiil helps restore the Razor Crest. He refuses both a share of the bounty and an offer to join the crew, having worked too long to obtain his freedom to surrender it for another wage. The two part with thanks, and the Mandalorian leaves the planet. The child wakes as their journey resumes, now having saved the life of the man transporting it.
