Season synopsis

Barry’s dwindling speed leaves him struggling to rescue Iris from the Mirrorverse. Nash Wells sacrifices himself and the other Wellses within him to power an artificial Speed Force, but its effect on Barry’s thinking makes him dangerously detached. He shuts it down after harming Iris. Their connection helps revive the original Speed Force, and together they persuade Eva to abandon her invasion. Eva frees her captives and returns to the Mirrorverse, ending the crisis that separated the couple.
Restoring the Speed Force also creates the Strength, Sage and Still Forces, whose human conduits are Alexa Rivera, Bashir Malik and Deon Owens. Wearing Nora Allen’s appearance, the Speed Force treats them as threats and attacks them. Barry and Iris resist destroying the new lives they helped create, and the rival Forces eventually reconcile after their conflict threatens Central City. Frost becomes physically separate from Caitlin and faces prosecution, while Cisco accepts an A.R.G.U.S. job and moves away with Kamilla.
The arrival of warring Godspeed clones brings Barry’s future children, Nora and Bart, into the fight. Their enemy is August Heart, who demands real speed rather than the artificial power he has used. Giving it to him restores his memories and makes him more dangerous. Barry and Iris arrange for Thawne to help defeat him, knowing Thawne cannot bear to let another villain kill Barry. Godspeed survives and is imprisoned, while Thawne escapes after discovering Barry is faster. The season ends with Barry and Iris renewing their wedding vows among family and friends.
