Sam and Bucky catch up with Walker after Nico's killing and ask him to surrender the shield. Walker attacks them, tears away Sam's wings and nearly strikes him with the shield before they finally overpower him. Sam keeps the shield and leaves his damaged equipment with Torres. At a government hearing, Walker loses the Captain America title and his military benefits. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine approaches him afterwards, treating his new strength as something worth recruiting.
Bucky finds Zemo at the Sokovian memorial and hands him over to the Dora Milaje. Sam visits Isaiah Bradley again, hearing how he rescued fellow soldiers and was imprisoned while the government concealed his survival. Isaiah wants no part of the shield or public recognition. While practising with the shield, Bucky apologises for failing to understand what Steve's gift meant for a Black man. Sam urges him to make amends by helping the people he hurt. Sarah decides to keep the boat, and Sam trains for the responsibility he is choosing. In New York, Karli prepares to disrupt the GRC vote with weapons supplied by Batroc. Torres traces the group's activity there, prompting Sam to open the Wakandan case. Walker builds a shield of his own.
