Season synopsis

Clarke wakes inside Mount Weather, whose residents present themselves as rescuers. She discovers they harvest Grounder blood to treat radiation exposure; later, their leaders begin forcibly extracting bone marrow from the Ark’s survivors so they can live outside the mountain. Outside, the Ark’s survivors make camp on Earth while Bellamy and others search for the young prisoners trapped inside Mount Weather; Octavia strengthens her ties to the Grounders as she tries to reach Lincoln. Finn’s search for Clarke ends in a massacre, and Clarke kills him herself to prevent a harsher public execution. That choice deepens mistrust between Clarke, Raven and the people they are trying to unite.
Clarke and Lexa forge a joint plan to free the captives, but Lexa makes a deal with Mount Weather and pulls her army away from the assault, leaving Clarke and Bellamy to continue without the Grounders. Bellamy, already inside the mountain, joins Clarke and Monty in the command center. Cage refuses the last chance to release the captives, so Clarke and Bellamy pull the lever and irradiate Level Five. The radiation kills the Mount Weather population and Maya, while the remaining captives escape. Clarke returns to Camp Jaha and then leaves alone, unable to face the people who were saved by her decision.
