About the series

Nova Primavera is a fictional town in Mato Grosso do Sul where land has both economic value and personal meaning. Aline arrives there with her son after her husband Samuel is killed during an attack connected to the La Selva family’s attempt to take her property. She is a mathematics teacher, not a farmer, but she chooses to remain on the land and pursue the future Samuel imagined for them. Her decision makes her a direct obstacle to Antônio La Selva, a wealthy agricultural patriarch who expects local people and institutions to bend to his will. The farm becomes the point where Aline’s grief, independence and demand for justice collide with the family’s power.
Caio is Antônio’s eldest son, yet he has spent much of his life treated as the unwanted heir because he is the child of Antônio’s first wife, Agatha, whom everyone believed died giving birth. Caio’s brothers have different places in the family: Daniel is the favored lawyer whom Antônio plans to make heir, while Petra struggles under pressure and illness. Irene, Antônio’s current wife, reinforces that hierarchy and wants Daniel’s succession secured. When Caio falls in love with Aline, the relationship crosses the feud over the land and the divide within the La Selva household. His choice to support her is also a challenge to a father whose approval has always been withheld.
Daniel’s engagement to Graça adds another layer to the succession conflict. He is drawn toward Aline, while Graça is pregnant and entangled with the plans of people around her. The family’s carefully managed image starts to fracture as secrets about parentage, money and loyalty emerge. Jonatas, Samuel’s cousin and Aline’s friend, also loves her and becomes an important ally in her struggle. His closeness to Aline complicates the romance without diminishing the practical partnership between them: he understands the land and its risks, while she refuses to surrender it simply because the La Selvas have more resources. Their relationships repeatedly show how private attachment is affected by the unequal power of the town. Daniel dies after the brakes of his car are sabotaged. Irene initially turns her anger against Caio, but later admits ordering the sabotage herself, claiming Caio was the intended victim. Her attempt to secure Daniel’s future has instead helped destroy it.
The central mystery changes when Agatha returns after decades away. She is not the dead woman the family had imagined but a living person with a history of flight, imprisonment and concealed relationships. Her return unsettles Antônio and gives Caio a chance to confront the mother whose absence shaped his childhood. Agatha’s presence also opens a second account of the past: she has ties to Cândida, to Gentil and to Angelina, all of whom know parts of her story. Rather than simply restoring a lost family member, her arrival creates new suspicion, since people must decide whether she wants reconciliation, influence or revenge. Her shifting alliances draw the town’s older secrets into the present dispute.
As Agatha moves closer to Antônio and his household, both Irene and the family’s allies try to control what others learn. Agatha’s complicated history with Antônio includes her earlier departure with a lover and later imprisonment for murder. Her relationship with Caio is equally fraught: she wants a place in his life, but her return cannot undo the years in which he believed she was dead. Hélio enters the family’s orbit as another person connected to Agatha’s concealed past, and new revelations challenge the identities on which inheritance and loyalty have rested. The storyline makes the La Selva home a contested space where each character’s version of the past is also a claim to power in the present.
The fight over Aline’s land moves through legal battles, threats and attempts to make the farm profitable. Aline partners with Caio and others to make the farm productive, while the discovery of diamonds raises the stakes of ownership, while Antônio tries to keep control over the territory and the people around him. Aline’s pregnancy and relationship with Caio give the conflict a future dimension: their family would represent a life outside Antônio’s authority. That future remains endangered by his violence and by alliances that shift whenever a new secret surfaces. Meanwhile, Jonatas loses the use of his legs after a gunshot and has to rebuild his life using a wheelchair, and the townspeople around both families face the consequences of living under the La Selvas’ influence.
The finale brings the personal and political conflicts together at Aline and Caio’s wedding. Antônio invades the ceremony intending to kill Aline, but Ramiro, his former enforcer, intervenes after Antônio takes Kelvin hostage and stabs him. Ramiro shoots Antônio, ending the patriarch’s hold over the family at the cost of going to prison. Aline and Caio marry and welcome twins Clara and Francisco. The mystery of Agatha’s death is also resolved: Angelina consciously poisoned her, Gentil pushed her down the stairs, and Irene fired the shots. Kelvin and Ramiro marry while Ramiro is imprisoned, leaving their relationship with tenderness and consequence at once. The ending closes the land-and-family saga without pretending that reconciliation erases its violence.
