Secession

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Kendall leaves the press conference that accused Logan of covering up abuse on Waystar’s cruise ships and immediately tries to build a rival camp. He tells Greg and public-relations chief Karolina to help, but when Karolina warns that the move exposes both him and the company to legal risk, Kendall orders her out of the car. With his security access revoked, he takes his operation to Rava’s apartment, where he hires crisis strategist Berry Schneider and assistant Comfry to reshape his public image. Logan and the family are still in Europe. After Kendall refuses his offer to retract the accusation, Logan separates his inner circle from Shiv, Roman and Gerri, sending one group toward Sarajevo and the others back to New York.

Logan considers stepping aside temporarily and asks his circle whether Shiv, Roman or Gerri could serve as a figurehead. Roman pitches himself, then recommends Gerri as the safer choice. Shiv tries to hire lawyer Lisa Arthur for the company, only to discover that Kendall has already approached her. Lisa meets Kendall at Rava’s apartment, hears his account and agrees to take his case. Logan responds by hiring rival lawyer Layo Upton and choosing a more aggressive legal strategy. When Shiv learns that Gerri will become interim CEO, she changes course and redirects her car.
