Season 4

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

Season 4 opens with Janeway and Tuvok negotiating with the Borg in “Scorpion, Part II.” The Collective chooses Seven of Nine as its spokesperson, but Species 8472 attacks. The Borg cube rams a bioship, destroying both and saving Voyager, though Janeway is gravely injured. After the weapon drives Species 8472 back, Seven turns on Voyager and tries to assimilate its consoles. Chakotay uses a neural relay to distract her while Torres shocks a console, severing Seven’s link to the Collective; Voyager continues with Seven unconscious aboard. In “The Gift,” the Doctor removes most of Seven’s implants as she starts adjusting to life apart from the Borg. Kes leaves when her expanding powers threaten the ship and moves Voyager ten years closer to home.

Seven remains present as she resists the loss of the Collective and begins making her own choices. The crew builds an astrometrics lab, then enters Krenim space, where Annorax’s temporal weapon alters history and leaves Voyager badly damaged. After months of attacks and heavy losses, Janeway orders most of the crew to evacuate; the senior staff join allied ships, while she stays aboard Voyager to pilot it. She rams the ship into the timeship, destroying both and resetting the timeline.

After Voyager receives an encrypted message through a Hirogen relay, Neelix brings aboard Arturis, who deciphers coordinates to a supposed Starfleet rescue ship, the Dauntless. Its slipstream drive appears to offer a three-month journey home, but Janeway discovers the message is false and the ship belongs to Arturis, whose people were assimilated after Voyager helped the Borg defeat Species 8472. He turns the Dauntless toward Borg space with Janeway and Seven aboard. Voyager catches up, rescues both, and turns away; the crew is still in the Delta Quadrant, though the brief slipstream flight shortens the route.
