Season 6

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

Deep Space Nine is under Dominion occupation while Sisko fights to retake it before the wormhole minefield falls. Kira and Rom organize resistance aboard the station, but Odo becomes distracted by the visiting female Changeling. He eventually helps rescue his friends, and Rom disables the weapons too late to save the mines. Sisko takes the Defiant into the wormhole and persuades the Prophets to make the approaching Dominion fleet disappear. The occupiers withdraw, but Damar kills Ziyal for helping the resistance, leaving Dukat shattered.

Retaking the station does not end the war. With Federation losses mounting, Sisko recruits Garak to draw the Romulans into the conflict. They forge evidence of a Dominion invasion plan, but Senator Vreenak detects the deception. Garak secretly bombs his ship, expecting the damaged recording to convince the Romulans that the Dominion murdered him. The plan works, and the Romulans declare war. Sisko learns what Garak has done, accepts the result and deletes his personal account of the operation.

The final offensive targets Chin’toka, despite the Prophets warning Sisko to remain on the station. While the fleet attacks, Dukat allows a Pah-wraith to possess him and enters the Bajoran temple. He mortally wounds Jadzia Dax and releases the spirit into an Orb, closing the wormhole. Kira takes over aboard the Defiant and helps defeat Chin’toka’s defenses, but the military success brings no relief at home. Bashir saves the Dax symbiont, while Jadzia dies after saying goodbye to Worf. Sisko takes leave on Earth with Jake, placing Kira in command.
