Gi-hun confronts Sang-woo for pushing the glassworker to his death, but Sang-woo argues that hesitation would have killed all of them. Sae-byeok hides a severe wound caused by the exploding bridge. The three finalists receive formal clothes and an elaborate dinner, yet she can barely eat. When the meal ends, the guards leave a steak knife with each contestant, turning the dormitory into another place where they can kill one another.
Jun-ho reaches land and tries to send the evidence on his phone to his superior, asking for armed backup. The Front Man and his guards corner him at a cliff before help can arrive. Jun-ho shoots the masked leader in the shoulder, then sees him remove his mask. The man is his missing brother In-ho. Their confrontation ends when In-ho shoots Jun-ho, who falls into the water below.
In the dormitory, Gi-hun proposes that he and Sae-byeok work together and divide the prize. She instead asks him to care for her younger brother if she does not escape. When Gi-hun considers attacking Sang-woo in his sleep, she stops him, insisting that he is still a good person. Her bleeding then becomes impossible to hide. Gi-hun rushes to the doors and begs the guards for a doctor, but Sang-woo cuts Sae-byeok's throat while he is away. The guards remove her body, leaving the two childhood friends as the last contestants.
