Season synopsis

Jax turns SAMCRO toward revenge after Tara’s murder, believing Gemma’s claim that a member of Henry Lin’s organisation killed her. The lie draws the club into attacks on Lin’s business and a widening conflict with August Marks. Jax kills Jury, the Indian Hills president, wrongly believing he betrayed the club. Bobby is captured and mutilated by Marks’ men, then shot dead during an exchange that should have brought him home. Juice, meanwhile, hides with Gemma’s help before entering prison on a mission to kill Lin and recover his place in SAMCRO.
Abel’s questions about his grandmother make Jax reconsider what happened to Tara. Wendy reveals that she, Gemma and Unser have sheltered Juice, and Unser establishes that the man blamed for Tara’s death was outside California. In prison, Juice admits that Gemma killed Tara and that he shot Sheriff Roosevelt to protect her. Jax tells the club the truth and accepts responsibility for the deaths his retaliation caused. Gemma flees Charming, but Jax eventually finds her. He kills Unser when the former police chief refuses to leave, then shoots his mother in the garden.
The final episode follows Jax putting his affairs in order. He leaves Abel and Thomas with Wendy and Nero, kills Barosky and Marks, and asks his brothers to vote for his death over Jury’s murder. Chibs receives the president’s patch and makes Tig vice-president. Rather than execute Jax themselves, the Sons wound Happy to help him escape. Riding his father’s motorcycle, Jax visits the place where John died and provokes a police pursuit. He deliberately rides into an oncoming truck, ending his life while his children leave with the people he has asked to protect them.
