Season synopsis

Six months after Fiona leaves, Debbie takes charge of the Gallagher household, manages the $50,000 her sister left behind and hides purchases from her family. Frank exploits a leg injury to obtain painkillers and reunites with Mikey in new schemes. Liam studies Black history with V, while Kev’s identity crisis causes friction with V. Carl returns from military school and starts a job at a chicken restaurant.
Tami gives birth to Fred, but a medical crisis leaves Lip caring for their newborn while she is in emergency surgery. She survives, and the couple struggle over parenting, money and where they can live; Lip tries to build a future with her in Chicago. Ian and Mickey begin the season together in prison, then face the strain of separate parole dates. Once both are free, they struggle to agree on marriage. Their reunion combines affection with old distrust as Mickey pushes for certainty and Ian hesitates. Debbie juggles Franny’s care and her relationships.
As the season closes, Mickey and Ian decide to marry. Mickey’s father burns their original wedding venue, so the family finds a Polish banquet hall and uses a ruse to get the ceremony inside. Mickey’s father still tries to stop the marriage, but Ian and Mickey exchange vows and leave as husbands. Elsewhere, Kev and V become engaged, and Lip and Tami reconcile after she considers leaving Chicago with Fred. Debbie’s latest relationship ends with police arriving at the Gallagher house to arrest her over her sexual relationship with Julia, who is underage.
