Helena begins the day with breakfast alongside her father, Jame, across from Lumon headquarters. He tells her the day is significant, while she reports that Irving is being dealt with. At the office, Miss Huang completes her Wintertide Fellowship and learns she will be sent to the Eagan Empathy Center rather than remain as deputy manager. Milchick makes her destroy a ring-toss game as a required sacrifice, another display of Lumon’s ability to turn personal moments into company ritual.
Dylan learns that Gretchen kissed his innie during a family visit and threatens to quit, knowing that resignation would end his work self’s life. Gretchen visits him again to say they must stop seeing each other. Dylan proposes with a ring he has made from office items, but she turns him down and says goodbye. He later gives Milchick a resignation form. Helly meanwhile recovers Irving’s drawing and studies its directions toward the exports hall.
Mark and Devon meet Cobel, who warns that finishing Cold Harbor will kill Gemma. Mark agrees to the plan to reach Lumon’s birthing retreat and awaken his innie. Irving leaves Kier by train after Burt says they cannot pursue a relationship. At Lumon, Jame catches Helly studying the exports-hall directions. The episode ends at the retreat: Mark awakens as his innie and tells Cobel the words Devon heard during the overtime contingency, “She’s alive.”
