Season synopsis

A.D. gives the Liars a deadline to identify Charlotte’s killer, while Alison’s husband, Dr. Elliott Rollins, is exposed as Archer Dunhill and turns her friends against her. Alison escapes his control, but Hanna accidentally runs him over as he pursues her, and the group buries his body. The search for Charlotte’s killer runs through Jenna, Noel and the returning Mary Drake, Spencer’s birth mother. Noel dies during a confrontation at an abandoned school, where A.D. shoots Spencer; Mary saves Spencer and reveals she is her daughter. Mary later tells Spencer that she killed Jessica DiLaurentis, and Emily discovers A.D. used her stolen eggs to make Alison pregnant.
Aria is coerced into helping A.D. before the Liars expose her and she switches sides. Mona admits that she killed Charlotte in self-defense after trying to stop her from restarting the A-game, resolving the mystery that drove A.D.’s campaign. In the finale, A.D. is revealed as Spencer’s identical twin, Alex Drake. Wren met Alex in London, told her about Spencer and introduced her to Charlotte; Alex took up the game to avenge Charlotte and wanted Spencer’s life. She killed Wren because he continued to see her as Alex while she wanted to take Spencer’s place. The Liars and Toby expose the impersonation and rescue Spencer and Ezra. Aria and Ezra marry, Hanna and Caleb are expecting a child, and Alison and Emily are engaged and raising their twins. Mona secretly keeps Alex and Mary in a dollhouse in Paris.
