Bonnie fights Goliath while the Shelbys watch the crowd for danger. Arthur is attacked away from the ring and appears to have been killed. Tommy allows Luca to believe the family has lost another brother and prepares an apparent surrender of the company. The grief and funeral arrangements become part of a plan that relies on Luca accepting what he sees without questioning who is still alive.
When Luca comes to take control, Tommy reveals that he has used American contacts to buy off the men supporting the vendetta. Arthur returns and shoots Luca, ending the immediate war and avenging John. Tommy then goes to Margate to confront Alfie over his betrayal. Their meeting ends in gunfire, and Tommy shoots him. The victory does not make the quiet life Tommy attempts afterwards bearable; away from work, his distress returns.
Tommy turns towards politics and approaches Jessie as though her cause has become his own. Her contact gives him information he can offer to the authorities about revolutionary activity. In exchange, he proposes a larger role for himself within the political movement. He also releases a factory foreman from his service, allowing the man to return to his family. The episode closes with Tommy elected Labour MP for Birmingham South, carrying the company's power into Parliament rather than retiring from it.
