Pablo's prison at La Catedral operates as a private fortress. His own sicarios live there, his own men guard it, and the terms of surrender keep the police and military at a distance. Parties and expensive deliveries continue behind the walls. In Bogotá, the reduction in violence lets Murphy and Connie begin adoption proceedings, even as Murphy and Peña search for a way to expose what confinement really means for Pablo.
The investigators examine possible tunnels and supply routes, but photographs of the prison's deliveries reveal a more direct scandal. Pablo is still running his organisation and enjoying privileges the government would rather keep quiet. Without Gustavo beside him, he becomes increasingly suspicious of the partners managing business outside. Money found buried in a field feeds his belief that Galeano and Moncada have stolen from him, and he summons them to the prison.
Both men are killed inside La Catedral. Navegante brings word of their disappearance to Murphy and Peña and proposes an exchange of information that Murphy distrusts. Surveillance records show the partners arriving without leaving, giving the investigators a way to challenge the prison arrangement. Officials resist acting on the violations, fearing a renewed conflict. Murphy and Peña decide to take the story to a journalist, turning Pablo's protected imprisonment into a public crisis the government cannot easily ignore.
